Solandra blooming In the exhibition greenhouse of the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, an unusually beautiful evergreen blooms
| liana - salandra.

In its natural habitats (Central America, Mexico), this creeper reaches large sizes, up to 15 meters in length, and can bloom all year round. In our conditions, it is often grown as a houseplant, the size of which is regulated by shaped pruning.

Salandra is characterized by gorgeous funnel-shaped flowers of huge size up to 30 cm, which emit a light vanilla aroma. Anyone who has seen its flowering at least once is immediately fascinated by this plant.

Interesting facts:

  • In nature, these very large flowers are pollinated by bats.
  • Liana is endowed with aerial roots capable of capturing moisture from the air.
  • All parts of salandra are poisonous.
