26.04.2025 - 04.05.2025 From April 26 to May 4, 2025, from 10:00 to 18:00, the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will host an exhibition of daffodils! Daffodils are real symbols of spring! They were grown in ancient Egypt, Iran, Ancient Greece and Rome. Legends were made about these sunny flowers, they were sung by poets and artists. More than 100 varieties of hybrid narcissus will be presented at the exhibition, including such ancient varieties as Sir Watkin, Bernardino, Helios, Sulphur Beauty, Lady Kesteven, Cardinal, Seagull, Fairy Queen, White Lady. Visitors will get acquainted with the very first variety of hybrid narcissus with a pink crown, Mrs. R. O. Backhouse. We will also present 4 varieties of daffodils of our own selection - tubular daffodils Luntik and Moonlight, small-horned Moth variety and large-horned Svitanak. The collection of daffodils in the Central Botanical Garden began to take shape in the post-war years. Today it covers all garden groups of this crop and has more than 400 varieties. Terry daffodils, which appeared in the garden's collection in the 60s of the last century, are particularly attractive. Among the terry daffodils at the exhibition, one can see varieties of both modern breeding and those bred in the 20s of the XX century (Sulphur Phenix, Mary Copeland, Inglescombe). On May 3 and 4, meetings with the curator of the daffodil collection will be held within the framework of the exhibition from 13:00 to 14:00. Practical tips on growing for beginners and experienced gardeners are waiting for you, as well as the opportunity to ask all your questions to a specialist. Cyanotyping is an unusual way to create images in shades of blue and light blue using a silver–free printing process. At the workshop, you will: • get acquainted with the technique, which was admired back in the 19th century.; • working with natural materials; • create a souvenir product with your own hands!
