27.09.2024 - 28.09.2024 On September 27-28, 2024, at 16.00 and 18.00, the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will host tours of the Korean chrysanthemum collection. Chrysanthemum is the national flower of Japan, a symbol of longevity and prosperity. It comes from China, where it has been cultivated for over 2 thousand years. Today, there are about 13 thousand varieties of chrysanthemums of different shapes, colors and sizes in the world. Chrysanthemum flowers can be white, yellow, pink, purple, orange and even red. Chrysanthemum is one of the longest flowering plants, which can delight with the colors of its flowering for up to 3 weeks. Korean chrysanthemum is resistant to low temperatures, so it is often used to decorate autumn gardens and flower beds. The collection of chrysanthemums of the Central Botanical Garden unites varieties of the summer-autumn flowering period (July - October), wintering in the open ground of Belarus and has about 270 varieties with various types of inflorescences and their colors. The excursion will be conducted by the curator of the collection, researcher of the laboratory of introduction and selection of ornamental plants Tsekhanovich Svetlana Vitalievna. During the excursion, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the variety of varieties of Korean chrysanthemum, their differences, features of agricultural technology. They will learn legends and facts, will be able to note the varieties they like for themselves in order to buy next spring. Groups for the excursion are formed at the Central Entrance!
