19.12.2024 - 25.12.2024 The Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus invites you to the closed collection fund! Only from December 19th to 25th, everyone can visit the Palmarium and stroll among the majestic palm trees! The Palmarium was founded in 1959 and is located in the oldest building of the botanical garden. There are about 20 varieties of palm trees collected here, and each specimen holds a history and value. Rattan and dwarf date palms, sugar and wine palms, California fan palms and others are located in Palmaria. You can get acquainted with each of them, find out where they came from and what useful properties they have. Along with palm trees, both the strelitzia of Nicholas and the red African tree are adjacent here. The palm tree is a legend plant. The peoples of many countries worshipped palm trees, considering them sacred plants. In ancient times, palm trees were symbolic plants in different countries, embodying peace and abundance, victory and military successes. Currently, palm trees are widely used as ornamental, medicinal, food and industrial plants. They are used in floristry, gift packaging, handbag and shoe making. Palmarium is the selfie hit of December! Take a walk among the PALM TREES in winter! A BONUS FOR CHILDREN! On December 21, 22 and 25, from 13:00 to 14:00, a CREATIVE WORKSHOP on painting wooden blanks will be held in the lobby of palmaria! Every little participant will be able to learn how to draw with acrylic paints on wooden blanks. Even beginners and inexperienced artists will be able to create their own individual and unique picture with their own hands. Each participant will be able to take a handmade souvenir with them!
